A Safe Haven for Your Therapy Journey

At Chapel Allerton Therapy, I provide therapy sessions in a light, airy, and comfortable environment designed to help you feel relaxed and safe while receiving professional support. There are three spacious, well-ventilated therapy rooms, along with a peaceful waiting area that includes toilet facilities.

Services I Provide & Areas I Work With

I offer individual adult counselling and psychotherapy for clients aged 18 and above. My experience encompasses various areas, including:

Bereavement

Bereavement

Bereavement

Grieving the loss of a loved one can be one of life's most challenging experiences. I understand that bereavement is often more complex than it appears. It involves re-learning how to navigate life without that person and finding ways to 'relocate' the deceased in your life. Each person’s grieving process is unique, with no right or wrong way to cope, and my role is to help you understand and accept your feelings throughout this journey.

Anxiety

Bereavement

Bereavement

Anxiety is increasingly common, especially among younger individuals. While it’s a natural human experience, when it overwhelms daily life, it can lead to irrational thoughts and dysfunctional behaviours. Together, we can work to understand the roots of your anxiety and develop coping strategies to manage feelings of unease, worry, and discomfort.

Depression

Depression

Depression

Depression manifests as a persistent low mood and feelings of hopelessness. If you’re experiencing a lack of motivation, isolation, or even suicidal thoughts, know that you’re not alone. I’m here to provide support and strategies to navigate through these feelings, helping you regain a sense of clarity and connection with your emotions.

Trauma

Depression

Depression

Experiencing trauma can leave profound emotional and psychological distress. It may arise from witnessing or experiencing distressing events, impacting your ability to enjoy life and maintain relationships. In therapy, we can explore your experiences, understand your emotional responses, and work toward healing and reclaiming your sense of self.

What to Expect From Your First Session

Beginning therapy can feel daunting, and it’s natural to feel apprehensive. However, seeking help is a brave step toward investing in your well-being. In our first session, I will introduce myself and ask about your reasons for seeking therapy. Together, we will assess your situation, set goals, and determine the best approach for your needs.

Approaches and What Therapy Looks Like

As an integrative practitioner, I draw on various therapeutic approaches, including:

  • Person-Centred Therapy (PCT): You take the lead in exploring the areas most important to you in a safe, empathetic environment.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy: We’ll examine how past experiences influence your current behaviour and emotional state, including attachment styles.
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): I will help you view problems objectively, allowing you to understand your thought processes and behaviours, and fostering independence and resilience.
  • Existential Therapy: If you feel a lack of purpose, we will explore your unique world view to uncover your intrinsic value and meaning in life.

How I Deliver Therapy

I offer both short-term and long-term face-to-face therapy sessions at Healthwise Leeds Therapy Centre, as well as online therapy via Zoom and telephone therapy. Sessions typically last 50 minutes and are scheduled once a week at a mutually convenient time.
